BCA outdoor educaion team has over 50 years experience managing centres, training staff teams and delivering activities from sailing, kayaking and climbing to environmental education and sustainability. Modules will include leading groups, coaching, gaining knowledge of the environment and skills training in outdoor activities. Our courses will involve theory work but our classrooms will include the rivers and hills of the Chilterns, the mountains and whitewater of North Wales and the lofty crags and lakes of the Lake District. With 400 acres of land, a climbing wall, access to the Thames, a low and high ropes course, mountain biking, bushcraft, archery and a commercial licensed outdoor education centre on campus BCA has everthing to help kick start a career in the outdoors.
All of our programmes are fun, challenging and provide you with a real insight into the industry and will give you the skills and knowledge to help find employment, access to further training courses or higher education.

Level 2 Diploma in Outdoor Education
Duration one year
This practical work related programme is designed for school leavers or young people looking to seek employment within the outdoor industry. As well as learning about the employment areas available, you will begin to develop the skills you need to progress in the industry and acitivities.
Students must study all of the following modules:

- Outdoor and Adventurous Activities
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Sports Development
- Work Experience
- Leading Adventurous Activities
- Expedition Experience
Entry Requirements
D - E profile at GCSE or successful completion of a Level 1 qualification.

Duration two years
This is a work related programme, learning by completing projects and assignments that are based on a career and working in the outdoor industry, with opportunities to work in the outdoor centre on campus and gain additional recognised qualifications in outdoor education. This course is ideal for those considering a career in outdoor education with a focus on leading sessions and activities.
