Parents' Information

Safety
All our staff hold either external or internal qualifications appropriate to the activities they are leading.  All our staff have continuing CPD and under go regular observations to ensure the highest standards of safety and delivery.  We operate strict ratios of instructors to children either to National Governing Body guidelines or appropriate to the group, but not exceeding the numbers stipulated in our operating procedures.

We operate a 'Challenge by Choice' approach to activities.  Working with the children we will agree a target on each activity, whether that would be climbing to the highest point or putting on a helmet and harness and then helping the instructor.  Everyone will find their comfort level and achieve their personal challenges.

All our equipment is regularly inspected: daily before use, monthly and annually in accordance to guidelines appropriate to the equipment.

Medical
We will ask for any medical conditions to ensure the staff are aware of anything they need to monitor and be aware of.  This will be in a separate form during the booking process.  All information is confidential and destroyed once the day or week is complete.

All our staff are first aid trained and experienced in working with children and young people.  We have good access to medical facilities and all staff carry radios to ensure a prompt response should the need arise.

Pastoral Care
At Hall Place OEC we create a secure, happy and welcoming environment where your children are free to be themselves and achieve more than they thought possible.

All our staff will make each day that extra bit special.  We are passionate about bringing out the best in everyone and to support and motivate young people throughout their time with us.

Each day there will be a course director to meet and greet your children; they will be on hand all day to make sure they are happy and enjoying themselves.  At the end of the day the course director will be there to say goodbye and answer any questions you may have.

School trips will always have a party leader and teachers to act in loco-parentis.  Hall Place staff will always support and work with the school staff to ensure continuity of care and well being of everyone participating in our programmes.

A visit to Hall Place OEC is a great way to boost your child's self esteem and help them challenge their own boundaries.  Whether they're reaching the top of the climbing wall when afraid of heights, or spending time away from family and existing friends, a day at Hall Place can really help to increase their confidence.  It's also a great place for building and developing life skills, such as independence, tolerance, responsibility and loyalty - giving children a real advantage over their peers as they grow up and make their own way in the world as well as a way of making new friends.

Security
While life at Hall Place is all about having fun, the security of guests is an integral part of our operation.  All our staff hold an enhanced CRB check; each member will go through a robust recruitment, interview and induction process to ensure we have the best staff available.

As a college, it has evolved to have security at the forefront of everything we do.  The properties and grounds have well defined boundaries, CCTV, a number plate recognition system and all staff will wear easily recognisable name badges and uniform.

You will sign a register when you drop your child off and you will need to let us know who will be collecting them that evening.  If the drop off and collecting signatories are not the same and you have not told us of any changes, we wont be able to release your child.  We can except changes during the day in writing or by fax but not over the phone.

Schools will complete a fire list with the names of all the pupils they have brought to Hall Place OEC, this will be manages by school staff and Hall Place Staff will be updated of any alterations.

We can also accommodate early drop off's and late pick ups for camps, however this would incur an additional cost and needs to be arranged in advance.

On arrival at the camp, children are split into age appropriate groups, each will have its own leader.  Friends can stay together however this is best arranged at time of booking to avoid disappointment.

Children must stay on-site unless accompanied by one of our team.  The only activities which are off-site are the watersports at the Thames and some of the mountain bike routes.
